rewarding incompetence and malfeasance

pardon my rant, but I've been on a slow boil since hearing the following news headline on my way to work this morning: "Bush to propose Paul Wolfowitz as head of the World Bank this morning". This announcement would be no more encouraging to those who need the world bank than if he were proposing Ken Lay or Bernie Ebbers for the position.

Wolfowitz was the brilliant architect of our glorious military triumph in Iraq. However his neoCon beliefs don't stop at waging crusades in the Middle East. He and his cronies have also created economic devastation for the Iraqi people and virtual looting rights for multi-national corporations. Naomi Klein has written and spoken about this in some detail http://www.harpers.org/BaghdadYearZero.html I am sure that his primary goal as head of the World Bank will be to continue to reward big corporations and wealthy countries at the expense of the poor.

I don't know how this position gets filled, but I sure hope that Emperor Bush's wishes are thwarted on this. He managed to reward Condoleezza Rice with the Secretary of State role for her gross incompetence as National Security Advisor, let's hope Wolfie won't also be promoted for his deficient job performance. This guy should be turned over to a war crimes tribunal, not given a promotion to a powerful well paid job.
