obama the conservative

he swings right
for the general
cannot say i am surprised

am willing to go with the flow
with the hope that
he will rule to the left of this stuff
this electoral positioning
i still believe that he can lead the nation
to positions way more progressive than we can imagine
perhaps i will be sorely disappointed
the national democratic party
cannot be called progressive
not even liberal
perhaps center right
or moderate conservative
so i think even if he has a notion to move left
there will be constraints imposed by democrats
let alone those of the plutocrats
who will look to filibuster
but overall i am still hopeful
and will engage again soon
do my armchair pundit part!

long break - quick ramble about waterfronts

i have not posted in forever
reasons being ones i don't want to share on here
politics sort of takes a holiday at times
i was an obama delegate to the democratic state convention
went with the boy
to spokane
river city
whatever sceptisim i may have had
coming from the west side of the state
i will say that spokane knows how to treat a waterfront
pedestrians completely rule the river on both sides
seattle by contrast
the supposedly progressive city
has vehicles in absurd intensity
on three levels along our waterfront
pedestrians assaulted by noise and pollution
we 7 1/2 years after the nisqually earthquake we
once again have 8 plans to replace the viaduct
an urban design crime against humanity
and at least 5 of the new schemes
are almost of the same criminal magnitude
what the pho?
why doe the state highway department
get to control the future of our urban waterfront?
