The BP chairman went before a congressional committee today and Congressman Barton, Republican from Texas said:

“this is a tragedy, a tragedy of the first order”

Not the oil spill – no not that

Oil on the beaches, dead birds and fish, who cares about that?

Clearly not a congressman whose state’s waters and beaches are part of the spill zone.

“that the government has shaken down a good law-abiding company for $20B”

We really need to get the Republicans back in control of things so that corporations can pollute without being made to feel like they have done something wrong, or have to pay for cleanup, it really cuts into profits.
