illegal immigration

judicial watch has started a campaign to try and shut down casa latina in seattle. judicial watch is an odd group, every once in a while i think they do some great work, but they are at their heart extremely right wing. here's their website: http://www.judicialwatch.org/about.shtml

here is the email i sent them:
dear judicial watch:

congratulations on your courageous and principled fight against illegal immigration. clearly it would be morally ambiguous to draw a line in the sands of time as to when you think illegal immigration started. i think the historical record is unambiguous that the first european settlers in jamestown etc were never sanctioned by the native people of the continent and were clearly illegal immigrants.

when your organization calls for legal charges against all illegal immigrants and their descendents and people whose immigration was only sanctioned by other illegal immigrants, i will happily join your campaign and accept my own deportation. until then i will fight against your every move of your uptight hypocritical blue suited butts.

Giuliani responds to MoveOn.org

September 19, 2007

Giuliani greets former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London Wednesday in a summit of white men in red ties with messianic fantasies.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told CNN Wednesday that he welcomes attacks by al Qaeda and/or MoveOn.org on the US and US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and Rudy Giuliani and predicted that continued attacks and video tapes from the group will likely raise his standing among Republican primary voters.

“Frankly, I wish al Qaeda/MoveOn.org satanic alliance would do several more terrorist attacks and/or commercials attacking me, because if they do it could get me nominated," Giuliani told CNN's John King in London. “They are not exactly the most popular group among Republicans.”
"They have spent $200 or $300 million killing US citizens and assassinating the character of Republican candidates, and the fact that they want to personally attack me is probably a badge of honor for me, and probably is going to jump me five points in the Republican primary," he added.

The presidential hopeful has been gleeful in exploiting the exposure he received during the aftermath of 9/11and often starts salivating during Republican Presidential debates when talking about the war in Iraq. Giuliani has been highly critical of MoveOn.org for publishing an ad in the New York Times last week questioning Gen. David Petraeus’ trustworthiness in reporting the latest conditions in Iraq and says they are clearly in an unholy alliance with the people who brought down the World Trade Centers, forcing him to single-handedly clean-up the debris.

MoveOn responded to the criticism with a television advertisement in Iowa — and nationally on CNN — condemning Giuliani for dropping out of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group last year, and alleging he opted instead to hit the high-priced speaking circuit.

In the interview with CNN, Giuliani defended his decision to leave the group charged by Congress to assess the United State's Iraq policy, saying he would "have totally lost millions of dollars if I'd wasted my time with those losers."

"The reason I didn't: I couldn't give the time to it, and secondly I knew that, ultimately I am a megalomaniac who could very well be running for president of the United States," Giuliani said. "[H]ad I stayed on that group, their report was put out just at the time I announced for president and it [would have been] totally politicized. It was a mistake to join in the first place."

presidential address

my fellow americans: i have finally realized that we are in the midst of an unmitigated and utter catastrophe in iraq. after an occupation of almost five years, hundreds of billions of dollars and tens of thousands of lives lost, the conditions on the ground remain significantly worse for iraqi citizens today than in the days before we invaded. i cannot unmake history, but i am going to try and right some of the errors and sins of my administration while i can. i have instructed vice-president dick cheney to resign effective immediately and am nominating senator chuck hagel to replace him. vice-president hagel will be in charge of middle east policy including the un-occupation of iraq. he will be free to suggest a replacement for condaleeza rice, who i fired this afternoon. i now realize that she was the most incompetent and inappropriate secretary of state in the history of the union.

once vice-president hagel is settled in, hopefully before december of 2007 i will be resigning from office. i intend to turn myself over to the war crimes court at the hague. as a christian i believe that we all need to take responsibility for and accept the consequences of our actions.

thank you all.

Republicans See Craig as a Model for Rescinding Resignations

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: September 6, 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) – Senator Larry Craig has become a model to a host of politicians and other public officials who have resigned in disgrace. Alberto Gonzalez was the first to step forward this week and announce that: "I have no recollection of having resigned, I am and will be the Attorney General until my dying day. The USA Patriot Act clearly spelled out that this is now a lifetime appointment". Not to be outdone Donald Rumsfeld called a press conference this afternoon to declare that he only ever declared an intention to resign and has actually been on a sabbatical. Rumsfeld intends to resume control of the War Department at the end of September.

Rumors are swirling around the halls of congress that disgraced Senator Bob Packwood (R) of Oregon is conferring with attorneys to see if he can resume office without the annoying formality of an election. Female senatorial aides have started resigning in anticipation of Senator "Goodhands" return to DC.

Perhaps the most startling development came from Yorba Linda California where the Nixon Library sent out a press release that indicates that President Nixon will be resuming office posthumously. Later in the day an attorney representing Mr. Nixon indicated that official tapes of Nixon's resignation speech clearly show that he never actually quit the presidency. "There is a short silence on the tape, which some people claim used to contain the words "I resign the presidency", but I defy those critics to show this in a court of law. Regardless, it is clear that President Nixon never abused the constitution in the way that the current occupant of the Whitehouse does on a daily basis. There is no way that the public would not welcome the return of Richard Nixon, alive or dead, to the presidency at this point". Reporters at the press conference mumbled their agreement and had no further questions. ●
